What to expect on your first visit…
Whether you have been to therapy before or if this is your first time meeting with a therapist, it can feel intimidating to share such personal aspects of one’s self, perhaps for the first time ever, with a complete stranger. I will honor the process of us getting to know one another, and work at a pace that you feel comfortable with.
We will first identify how you would like your life to be different, explore how you will know when this has been achieved, and review informed consent policies.
We will then spend the first several sessions exploring what brought you to therapy, and discussing You: your values, identity, family, friends, career or schooling, and habits. We will explore how your past informed your present while simultaneously starting to incorporate new behavioral strategies that may better serve your goals.
As we continue in our work together, we will routinely check in about what is working well for you. I will continue to invite you to share if you need something different from me.
Therapy Services

No matter your situation, the last few years have been exceptionally traumatic. I imagine that at least one sphere of your life has been deeply affected. Whether you have a specific issue you want to address or are simply looking for a way to feel differently than you do, I provide a non-judgmental space for you to work through relationship challenges; career stress; loneliness; childhood trauma; parental challenges; or feelings of angst that your life is not where you would like it to be.

I help couples manage natural cycles of conflict that arise in every relationship by deepening their understanding of their own feelings and needs, and more effectively understanding the emotions of their partner. We will work together to develop and practice tools to create more positive cycles of communication. I support couples who are new in their relationship; preparing for a major relationship change such as marriage; or who have been together for many years and feel disconnected or stuck.

While you might feel like you are the only one in your circle who feels lost or confused, I assure you that you are not alone. Whether you are in college, about to graduate, or early in your career, the twenties are a challenging and overwhelming stage of life for most. Therapy can be a space to receive support, understand how past experiences have impacted you, and plot a course for your future. There are so many wonderful possibilities for this stage of your life, but old memories or limiting beliefs can block us from reaching our goals. You and I will problem-solve how you can have the life you want, whether it’s related to friends, relationships, career, or identity.

Working in the helping field means we are not immune from needing a safe space to make sense of ourselves. Whether you are attending graduate school, recently licensed, or a veteran therapist with years of experience under your belt, I offer a space to help you become better aware of what you are bringing into the room. Sitting in the client’s seat will provide some of the best support and guidance for when you work in the therapist’s chair.
